The Instituto Português da Qualidade (IPQ) is a public institute whose mission is coordinating the Portuguese Quality System (PQS) and other regulatory qualification systems, promoting and coordinating activities that contribute to demonstrate the credibility of economic agents and the development of other activities such as a national standardization body and a national metrology institution.
This diversity of functions created the need to adopt an effective work methodology that would give a balanced and integrated vision of the institute.
CHALLENGE
The main reason that led to adopt the system was to quickly visualize the results and that the entire team was aligned and motivated to work on the common objectives of the strategic map, always taking into account the implementation and monitoring of the necessary activities to correct deviations.
SOLUTION
The Quidgest® BSC is an information system that supports strategic management. Its main objective is to guarantee the effectiveness of planning, communication, execution, monitoring and control of the organizational strategy. The tool allows access to all the information as a whole and, at the same time, in a decentralized way, with the possibility of modifying it in a collaboratively.
RESULTS
The Quidgest BSC application allowed the IPQ to:
•Structure the strategy based on the mission and vision, taking into account stakeholders, finance, innovation, learning, processes and resources.
• Constantly monitor the activities performance, since the methodology is based on indicators collected with varying periodicity.
• Train the organic units in the provision of information to the system to ensure that the elements related to each objective / indicator are obtained correctly and on time.
• Conduct a critical performance review.
• Record corrective actions in case of unfavorable trends of the indicators. Treat the occurrences and results of the activities from a perspective of continuous improvement.
