Quidgest announced today that the departments of development of information systems and R&D (research and development), have been appraised at Level 3 of the CMMI Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV). The appraisal team was led by Enrique Morey (Pia Consultores) and Henrique Narciso (2R1 Consulting).
Genio (Quidgest’s Model Driven Development platform), QAM – Quality Assurance Management, QAP – Quality Appraisal and BSC Quality are some of Quidgest’ software systems which were used in this process and had a major impact in the appraisal. In fact, these software solutions grant, without further efforts, 80% of CMMI practices.
CMMI-DEV is a capability improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. An appraisal at maturity Level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools and methods. The organization’s set of standard processes, which is the basis for maturity level 3, is established and improved over time.
With this appraisal, Quidgest now takes part in the restricted group of Portuguese software companies that have been already evaluated, which proves the company’s ability to maintain quality, deadlines and costs in the development process of its solutions.
For companies wishing to select a partner for the development of software solutions, CMMI Level 3 provides an important set of benefits: not only it ensures an accurate development of information systems, but also a better project management and control of delivery times, which increases customer satisfaction.
In terms of internationalization, CMMI is an important competitive factor. Since it is an internationally recognized model, it ensures credibility and quality of software companies: “in the United States, where Quidgest already has a local presence, CMMI appraisal is a decisive factor in the process of choosing a supplier”, says Annabelle Le Rohellec, head of Quidgest’ International Department.
